A Whidbey Island Ferry and Fort Casey Engagement | Lindy + Jamie

* Dream Engagement shoot ahead!! * Lindy and I go way back. Farther back than I can even believe - somehow almost a decade has passed since we left college and went our separate ways. So when lindy reached out about photographing her wedding and engagement to Jamie, I couldn’t have said yes faster. Only a week before she reached out, I had clients reschedule their wedding to 2022, opening me up to be able to say yes to being her photographer. it felt like fate that we had reconnected :)

After talking through a few options for their engagement photos, I suggested that we hop on one of Seattle’s many ferries and spend a day exploring one of the islands. (I had been dreaming of doing a ferry photoshoot for years, but had to put that dream on hold once the covid pandemic hit). They loved the idea, and we set a date to catch the Whidbey Island ferry and explore Fort Casey on the island.

The afternoon of the shoot, we met up at Lindy’s apartment and drove together to the mukilteo ferry terminal. Because that particular crossing is on the shorter side, (maybe 20 minutes max?) I knew we needed to make the most of our time on the ferry. Luckily we had amazing blue skies and a fairly empty ferry to play around on. Lindy and Jamie were sooo fun to photograph, and they have such an endearing dynamic - Jamie always making Lindy laugh with his silliness, and their very obvious magnetism toward each other. The two have known each other since they were kids - growing up in the same circles and keeping in touch over the years. One Christmas they reconnected and something had changed - they clicked as more than just friends, and the rest is history.

We had so much fun on this shoot (even when we thought we locked the car keys in the trunk!!) We popped some champagne, had a sweet little picnic, explored fort casey, and stumbled into the most beautiful meadow of yellow wildflowers before making our way home. Sessions like this, where I have ample time to connect with my couples and (more importantly) allow them all the space and time to connect with each other, just make my heart so full. I’m so looking forward to their wedding in August and can’t wait to document their next adventure!
